Brothers Kyle and Conner were born in June 2009 and November 2010, respectively. They are healthy, typically developing boys who have been living in a foster home since early 2015. They both have some academic gaps related to their history of neglect when living with their biological family; however, each has shown significant progress since that time. Kyle and Conner reside together in the same foster home and have an emotional connection. They affirm their desire to be adopted together into a forever family. The boys were previously listed along with their older brother who lives with a different foster family and is no longer eligible for adoption. Update March 2022: Kyle and Conner continue to be healthy boys who have well-developed fine and gross motor skills. They are well oriented in time and space and show a good understanding of daily life. They remain together in the same foster family. KYLE has undergone a developmental assessment that showed his IQ is slightly below average as he seems to struggle with focus and attention and with memorization. Kyle is guarded in his communication and relationships, but once he has established a connection of trust, he shares and opens up more. Despite a positive self-image, Kyle is sensitive about comments regarding his ethnicity and may react with verbal aggression. Kyle likes to play ball games and enjoys teaching younger children some tricks and techniques. He helps around the foster home and knows how to prepare simple meals and snacks. Just like Kyle, developmental assessments for CONNER show an intellect slightly below average and difficulty with concentration and attention as well as memory. He works with a special education teacher and shows interest in the material and his own academic performance. A kind and communicative child, Conner likes to spend time with friends and classmates and does his best to present socially acceptable behavior. He’s especially alert and clear in conversations about favorite topics and enjoys active games, including role-playing. Conner gladly helps with chores at home. Both boys have a positive view on adoption and are open to joining a forever family abroad. 2021: KYLE is a cheerful, social boy who shows empathy for others, follows the rules, and understands the behavioral expectations in varied social situations. He is conflict averse but can skillfully defend his point of view to peers or adults. Despite typical brotherly spats with Conner, Kyle is always ready to help or defend his little brother. Kyle is enrolled in a 5th grade class in the 2020/2021 school year where he works with a resource teacher. He shows diligence in completing his work and consequently continues to make great progress. Kyle enjoys riding his bike, playing on the computer, and spending time with friends. CONNER is a curious, compassionate boy who makes friends easily and likes to feel useful. He has some difficulty in leading conversations and in expressing his thoughts and feelings, especially with people he does not know well. Conner is easily distracted, needs frequent redirection and can be stubborn and afraid of failure, all of which impact his schoolwork. He receives the support of a resource teacher as a 4th grade student in the 2020/2021 year. Conner enjoys playing the bagpipe, playing soccer, and riding his bike.
